Ope’s Opinion:  This was a perfectly charming read!  Yes, you know sort of where the story is going to go, but the journey was so much fun.  Each sister has a different story, is at a different place in their lives, yet they support each other.  

From the beginning you root for them to win the lottery.  You cringe when you see the road they are going down, but you know they have to learn the lessons.  It was just fun and easy.

This is exactly the read I needed at this time.  Now I want to read what else she has written and her next book.

Musical Chairs

In the tradition of novels by Maria Semple and Stephen McCauley, Musical Chairs is an irresistibly romantic story of role reversals, reinvention, and sweet synchronicity. 

Ope’s Opinion: The title of this book fits it perfectly on many levels.  Beside the musical chairs of the trio, there are many partners for many characters.  This is very much a character driven story.  The pace was a little bit slow at times for me.  

This would have grabbed my attention a bit more if I had more musical knowledge.  Some of the references got lost on me.  Overall, an average read.

Ope’s Opinion: This story started out slow and kind of depressing.  It took too long for Emmie to get out of her funk and open her eyes to see who and what was right in front of her.  No one seems to say what they are really thinking or feeling.  Luke can’t even tell anyone the color of suit he wants to wear.  I got a little frustrated with the characters. Her mother was a mess and very hurtful.

As I read, it did get somewhat better.  I am glad I finished it, but not sure I would  be able to pass it on.  Read the other reviews – I am in the minority on this one.

Ope’s Opinion:   I picked this up at Book Expo, not really knowing what it was about.  While waiting in line I read the synopsis.  Although, this is not my regular genre, it caught my attention and made me want to give it a read.  

 The first chapter confused me and made me think twice about continuing to read.  I am really glad I did continue ( I was encouraged by daughter Kristin of Kritters Ramblings ).  The first chapter introduced you to Hayley – it is real important for the rest of the story to understand where she came from before the White House job.

The twists made me want to keep reading to see where it went and the ending was a surprise to me – which I enjoyed!
