She came in search of the family she’d always wanted—and found the kind of love she’d never dared to imagine.

When Katelyn Loveland’s car veered off a winding Appalachian Mountain road, she thought she was done for. That is until Cooper Robinson, local sheriff’s deputy, came to her rescue. And though Katie narrowly escaped her brush with death, she still fell. Hard.

She wasn’t the only one. But soon Cooper learns that the woman he’s more attracted to than any he’s ever met is his brother’s new girlfriend—and therefore unquestionably off limits. Yet, despite his best efforts, Cooper and Katie can’t seem to avoid running into each other. Or ignore the undeniable chemistry between them.

As they grow closer, Katie shares the secrets of her past and the real reason she moved to their small North Carolina town. She also wins over Cooper’s welcoming and bighearted family. But they don’t know that her feelings for Cooper keep growing—all while she’s dating his brother. Soon the stakes of their emotional connection become higher than either of them could have imagined. Katie stands to lose the first family she’s ever had, and a scandal could doom Cooper’s campaign for sheriff’s office. Suddenly they find themselves on the edge of another precipice—and they’re forced to make a decision that could change their lives forever.

What is coming soon …. to a bookshelf near you?

Goodreads: In the newest installment of New York Times bestselling author Kristy Woodson Harvey’s Peachtree Bluff series, three generations of the Murphy women must come together when a hurricane threatens to destroy their hometown—and the holiday season in the process.

When the Murphy women are in trouble, they always know they can turn to their mother, Ansley. So when eldest daughter Caroline and her husband, James, announce they are divorcing—and fifteen-year-old daughter Vivi acts out in response—Caroline, at her wits end, can’t think of anything to do besides leave her with Ansley in Peachtree Bluff for the holidays. After all, how much trouble can one teenager get into on a tiny island?

Quite a lot, as it turns out.

As the “storm of the century” heads toward Peachtree Bluff, Ansley and her husband, Jack, with Vivi in tow, are grateful they’re planning to leave for the trip of a lifetime. But Vivi’s recklessness forces the trio to shelter in place during the worst hurricane Peachtree has ever seen. With no power, no provisions, and the water rising, the circumstances become dire very quickly…and the Murphy sisters, who evacuated to New York, soon realize it’s up to them to conduct a rescue mission. With the bridges closed and no way to access Peachtree Bluff by land or air, they set sail on Caroline’s boat, The Starlite Sisters, determined to rebuild their beloved town—as well as their family.

In “pitch perfect tones” (Publishers Weekly) and written with her signature Southern charm, New York Times bestselling author Kristy Woodson Harvey explores the magic of Christmas, the power of forgiveness, and the importance of family in a tale that reminds us that, no matter the circumstances, home is always where we belong—especially during the holidays.

This came as such a surprise!
Not only was it in a nice box, but there is a book mark and she signed the book!!
I have a shelf just for Kristy’s books – I am very excited to add this one.
Thank you Kristy!

No Words

Goodreads: Welcome to Little Bridge, one of the smallest, most beautiful islands in the Florida Keys.

Jo Wright always swore she’d never step foot on Little Bridge Island—not as long as her nemesis, bestselling author Will Price, is living there.

Then Jo’s given an offer she can’t refuse: an all-expense-paid trip to speak and sign at the island’s first-ever book festival.

Even though arrogant Will is the last person Jo wants to see, she could really use the festival’s more-than-generous speaking fee. She’s suffering from a crippling case of writer’s block on the next instalment of her bestselling children’s series, and her father needs financial help as well.

Then Jo hears that Will is off-island on the set of the film of his next book. Hallelujah!

But when she arrives on Little Bridge, Jo is in for a shock: Will is not only at the book festival, but seems genuinely sorry for his past actions—and more than willing not only to make amends but prove to Jo that he’s a changed man.

Things seem to be looking up—until disaster strikes, causing Jo to wonder: Do any of us ever really know anyone?

Ope’s Opinion: As a blogger I have been to several book festivals, so I was very interested in reading this book hoping to get insight into a festival from the authors perspective. I think I did get a little of the authors view of a festival, but there were so many antics going on, it didn’t feel real to me.

I was disappointed that the main character was portrayed as childish. Her love interest went from enemies to romance – it was a slow moving one – which I really like.

Although this was the third book in the series ( my first ) it stood alone just fine. I did not feel I was missing any information from pervious books.

New York Bookstore Puzzle

This is the box of Puzzle.
September always reminds of new books.
When school started my mom used to let us buy a new book.

This was a little challenging because there was no poster and
the colors were muted and blurred into each other.
I enjoyed the challenge.

This was a New York Puzzle company puzzle.
It is 1,000 pieces.
Thank you Kristi for giving this to me!

The Heart of Splendid Lake

Author: Amy Clipston
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
Genre: Christian Fiction
Source: Thomas Nelson ( Netgalley )

Goodreads: Bestselling author Amy Clipston transports readers to a picturesque lakeside town in this heartwarming contemporary romance.

Brianna is the youngest of the three Porter sisters and the only one who chose to stay in the small town of Splendid Lake, North Carolina. She followed in her father’s footsteps and became an expert boat mechanic, helping him run their small resort with cabin rentals, a convenience store, and a marina.

When Brianna’s father unexpectedly dies, Brianna is steeped in grief and guilt—then left alone to clean up the mess. To make matters worse, a constant stream of real estate brokers begins marching through her property, offering to buy the family land. In particular, she keeps running into handsome real estate mogul Scott Gibson.

As Brianna struggles to keep it all together, Scott finds his way into her heart. And as the two fight against their feelings, they just might find themselves forging a surprising and exciting new love at Splendid Lake.

Ope’s Opinion: I really enjoy Christian fiction, so I wanted to love this book ( a new author for me ), but I only liked it.

The small town setting was enjoyable and I could picture the lake resort – some place I would like to visit! I like stories with characters that pull themselves out of difficult situations.

The struggles for Brianna stretched on too long. I was ready for the story to take an upbeat path sooner than it did. Although Brianna had wonderful friends, I was disappointed her sisters were not more supportive and available to her.

I liked the slow romance. There did not really seemed to be a connection between Brianna and Taylor. It took Scott coming along for her to realize it.

The Inn at Summer Island

Author: Rachel Magee
Publisher: Entangled Amara
Genre: Romance
Source: Entangled ( Netgalley )

Goodreads: Millie Leclair is a mess, complete with a dead-end career and a flat-lining love life. So when she inherits her great aunt’s oceanfront B&B in a resort town in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, she doesn’t hesitate to pack up her car and set off on a new adventure. It’ll be fun.

Of course, life seldom goes according to plan. The B&B is barely habitable for one person, let alone ready to open for business. With dwindling funds, Millie has no choice but to roll up her sleeves and tackle the repairs by herself. Yeah, so much fun.

Ex-pro golfer Braxton Channing thought being a full-time single parent kept him on his toes. That was before he spotted his new neighbor teetering on her rooftop—which is only the beginning of her long list of renovations for the old house—and he added keeping her safe to his to-do list.

But Millie is determined to dive headfirst into repairs regardless of the risk, and suddenly, battling with his daughter over brushing her teeth seems easier than winning an argument with Millie. She’s exasperating. And oddly delightful. And most definitely shouldn’t be let anywhere near a tall ladder.

For a guy who’s sworn off romantic relationships, why does he suddenly want to be the one who gets the privilege of watching Millie conquer not just the B&B but his heart as well?

Ope’s Opinion: This is a good, very predictable romance. The characters are fun to read about. It is set at the beach ( my favorite place ) and involves a renovation of an old house – something else that I also enjoy! It’s a sweet romance – all about falling in love. The whole community was involved in this story.

I wouldn’t mind reading a book about the other people in this community. This is my first read of Rachel Magee – I will look at her other books and look forward to her next new one.

When We’re Thirty

Author: Casey Dembowski
Publisher: Red Adept Publishing
Genre: Romance
Source: Red Adept Publishing ( Netgalley )

Goodreads: Two friends. One pact. The performance of their lives.

Hannah Abbott is stuck in a dead-end relationship and at a job she loves but that barely pays the bills. The four walls of her tiny New York City apartment have never seemed so small. She’s barely toasted her thirtieth birthday when her old college friend Will knocks on her door with an unexpected proposal.

Will Thorne never forgot the marriage pact he made with Hannah, but he also never imagined he’d be the one to initiate it. One ex-fiancée and an almost-career-ending mistake later, however, he finds himself outside Hannah’s door, on bended knee, to collect on their graduation-night pinky promise.

With both of their futures at stake, Hannah and Will take a leap of faith.

Now, all they have to do is convince their friends and family that they’re madly in love. As long as they follow the list of rules they’ve drafted, everything should go smoothly. Except Will has never been good with rules, and Hannah can’t stop overthinking the sleeping arrangements. Turning thirty has never been so promising.

Ope’s Opinion: When I started reading I thought this was going to be a light, fluffy romance
( partly because of the cover ).

OH, this book was so much more! I did not want it to end. I fell in love with the characters. I did see the turns just before they happened – they were amazing. I really enjoy characters that have a past. I would have given five chairs, except I prefer the closed door romances.

This was a heart warming story that felt real to me. I want to read Casey’s next book.

The Inn at Tansy Falls

Author: Cate Woods
Publisher: Bookouture
Genre: Fiction
Source: Bookouture ( Netgalley )

Goodreads: Dearest Nell, if you’re reading this letter, I’m already gone…

You’re my best friend in the world, and as my last request I’m asking you to lay me to rest hundreds of miles away, in my crazy gorgeous, totally one-of-a-kind hometown of Tansy Falls. I know you’re a born-and-bred city girl, but hear me out. After first losing Adrian, and then me… I know your heart is hurting, Nell. I think you’ll find that you need Tansy Falls as much as I do.

So, I’ve got it all planned out. For two weeks, you’ll be staying at the sweet, local inn and every day you’ll be trying something new. And if you follow my instructions to the letter, you may discover there’s more to my story than you think. A surprise something… or someone at the end of it? Only you can find out!

Some last advice before you set off, Nell. Don’t forget your sturdy boots and make sure to give Boomer, the inn’s resident dog, a belly rub from me. Stay well away from former quarterback Brody Knott (boy, do I have some stories about him!). And finally, let the future bring what it brings. While Tansy Falls may look small, I know better than anyone that new beginnings can be found in all kinds of places. That little Vermont town you’d never heard of? Well, it might suddenly begin to feel just like coming home…

If you love feel-good love stories by ReaAnne Thayne, Debbie Macomber and Robyn Carr, you’ll adore this gorgeous, heart-warming novel about starting over.

Ope’s Opinion: This was such a wonderfully, sweet, predictable story. As soon as you start reading this you know where it is going to end, but the journey was worth each page turned. The characters were down to earth, small town people.

Although it starts out with Megan’s death ( Nell’s best friend ), this is not a sad book. It does deal with Nell’s grief, but in such a positive way. Cate Woods didn’t gloss over the hardship when you loose someone – she showed how to work through it and how to honor someone.

This was a very positive book with the ending you want and expect. I will read another Care Woods book. She made me smile.
